The floors are done, the baseboards done, painting is done, chairs have arrived and we're waiting for our shampoo bowls...we're so close!!!

We are approved for our zoning y'all! We'll be opening very very soon...so look out chicago theres a hot new salon in town and her name is Mops Beauty Shop!

We're half done!

Okay so half of the space is complete! ALL walls are painted except one....and we're waiting on the wall paper to arrive.....the lights are up! The ceiling's gold! Now we need some plumbing and some furniture and we're ready to go as soon as we have the city approval! Photos soon will follow--just thought everyone needed the update....

LEASE!

Its official! We have signed the lease! There's no turning back now! We went in to the space today and were hit with some problems----some gangs or stupid kids have etched crap in some of the windows...we thought it was spray paint....and there's a bit of a problem with the ceiling underneath the drop ceiling....fortunately we have great friends who are willing to help us out who know what they are doing when it comes to construction! Wish us luck---we're starting the ceiling this week....removing the drop and restoring the old ceiling with dry wall and painting it metallic gold! I gotta go wash the goo gone of my hands!

PUBLIC NOTICE

SO on Thursday June 19th, we went down to the city hall and turned in the zoning paperwork....in return we received a HUGE Public Notice sign to carry back and put on our space....as we left downtown we happened to get caught in a Gun Control Protest "Stop the Violence" anyway with Kate carrying our Public Notice sign over her head we walked with the protesters to get to the train---well we walked in a swarm of news cameras directed on us! Anyway didnt get to see if we happened to be included on the news segment we spent the rest of the night celebrating! However, due to the fact that the zoning department is backed up we may not have our hearing till September 19th. Which pushes our opening date back; however we will be doing the rebuilding regardless in order to get open as soon as possible!

So this is our first blog! So our lease is almost ready, zoning is almost ready to submit to the city of Chicago and we're ready to get in the space and start demolishing and rehabbing! We will soon be posting photos! The owners are Kate Gibson and Krista Vaughn and we hope to be opening by the beginning of September!
